Our Core Objectives

EDUCATION & RESEARCH

We promote and carry out or assist in promoting, teaching, and carrying out research, surveys and investigations and publish the useful results thereof.

PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION

We bring together in the conference representatives of voluntary organisations, government departments, statutory authorities, and individuals.

INFORMATION EXCHANGE

We collect and disseminate information on all matters affecting the said objects and exchange such information with other bodies having similar objects whether in this country or any other country.

KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION

We cause to be written and printed or otherwise reproduced and circulated, gratuitously or otherwise, such papers, books, periodicals, pamphlets, or other documents as shall further the said objects.

PHILANTHROPIC COMMITMENT

We carry out our objectives in a non-profit manner, with an altruistic or philanthropic intent, ensuring accessible dermatological care for all Namibians.

ADVOCACY & PROTECTION

  • Platform to voice concerns relating to the governing authorities and advancement of fees eg NAMAF
  • Reporting of unscrupulous activities to regulating authorities and protect the Namibian patients at large
  • The society can advise on, recommend, and support a member of the society (Dermatologist), in difficult legal situation with our knowledge

1. PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Promote continuous professional development (CPD) in dermatology through accredited seminars, workshops, and digital learning
  • Support subspecialty interest groups to drive advancement in areas like dermatopathology, cosmetic dermatology, and pediatric dermatology
  • Establish clinical practice guidelines that reflect Namibia's unique demographic and climatic skin health needs

 

2. PUBLIC EDUCATION & AWARENESS

  • Launch nationwide skin health campaigns focusing on sun safety, early detection of skin cancer, and common dermatological conditions
  • Provide multilingual educational resources targeting underserved and rural populations
  • Partner with schools and community health centers to promote skin hygiene and awareness from an early age

 

3. ACCESS TO QUALITY CARE

  • Advocate for increased dermatology coverage in public healthcare facilities, including mobile outreach to remote areas
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Health to streamline referral systems and improve dermatological infrastructure
  • Promote affordable, evidence-based treatments and diagnostics suitable for diverse Namibian settings

 

4. RESEARCH & INNOVATION

  • Encourage clinical research into locally prevalent dermatologic diseases and treatment outcomes
  • Create a national dermatology data registry to monitor disease trends and guide public health interventions
  • Foster partnerships with academic institutions and global dermatology societies to enhance research capacity and knowledge exchange

 

5. ETHICAL & INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

  • Uphold strong ethical standards in dermatologic practice, training, and industry engagement
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity in leadership roles and professional representation

  • Represent Namibian dermatology in regional bodies such as the African Dermatology Society
